Jeff Bailey Gallery is pleased to present Amy Talluto, Bonewhite Light, an exhibition of new drawings.
Talluto draws the landscape, usually near her home in rural New York, sometimes elsewhere. Forest walks or highway drives provide moments for discovery: hillsides, quarries, hedgerows and streams reveal unusual shapes, personified forms and an unexpected symmetry.
It is this moment of recognition that Talluto captures, fusing memory with observation to make a portrait of the landscape. Banal stretches come alive, and something extraordinary is found in the mundane.
I paint not what I see, but what I saw. – Edward Munch
